The Department of Plant Pathology has originally been established as the Department of Plant Protection in 1956. At that time, the Department was one of the didactic-scientific units of the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Agriculture erected in Szczecin in 1954. Thus, in 2004, the University of Agriculture celebrated 50 years of its existence.
The organizer and the first head of the Department was Prof. Dr. Tadeusz Dominik. He managed the Department from 1956 to 1979. From October 1979 to 30 September 1999, the head of the Department of Plant Pathology was Prof. Dr. Hab. Tadeusz Madej, and from 1 October 1999 the Department is conducted by Prof. Dr. Hab. Janusz Blaszkowski.
The rooms of the Department of Plant Pathology are within the building of the Faculty of Shaping of Environment and Agriculture located at the Slowackiego 17 street.
